On June 1, 2018, Cartoon Network Studios wanted to send Hi Hi Puffy AmiYumi to Nickelodeon Animation Studio to be owned by Nickelodeon until 2021. The movie is not geared to any side, or, that it contained things for parents .
Then, the Japanese pop-rock band Puffy AmiYumi and Sam Register meet the founder of GK Films, Graham King, so they can join forces with the four companies (Village Roadshow Pictures, Cartoon Network Studios, RatPac-Dune Entertainment and GK Films) in a global media franchise and shared universe called Puffy Extended Universe. It produces every 21 films of the franchise around the world.
